Naruto Card Game
Naruto Card Game made its world debut at Gen Con 2026, and Bandai has now confirmed enough to sketch a real picture of what it is, even though the worldwide release is still roughly a year out. This page tracks everything officially confirmed so far: how the game plays, who's been revealed, where you can see it before launch, and, just as importantly, what still isn't known. Most of the set is still unrevealed, and this article won't pretend otherwise.
TL;DR: Naruto Card Game is Bandai's new trading card game built around the Naruto franchise, revealed July 29, 2026 and demoed at Gen Con 2026 (July 30 to August 2, Indianapolis). Worldwide simultaneous release is confirmed for Summer 2027, no exact date yet. Confirmed mechanics: 5 card types (Leader, Character, EX Character, Chakra, Summon), a 51-card main deck plus 1 Leader, 5 Chakra Cards, and 1 Summon Card, and a win condition based on reducing the opponent's Leader Life Points to zero. Seven characters have been shown: Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, Jiraiya, Itachi Uchiha, Orochimaru, and Boruto Uzumaki.
Bandai Card Games revealed the game to the public on July 29, 2026, one day ahead of its playable world debut at Gen Con 2026 in Indianapolis (July 30 to August 2). That reveal included the game's core mechanics, its first character card art, and a global event roadmap running through the rest of 2026. Attendees who completed a free tutorial session at Gen Con received a promotional CP-001 Chakra Card in a Gen Con 2026 variant, a branded backpack, a logo sticker, and a voucher for an official playmat arriving sometime in 2027.
Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto gave a short statement alongside the announcement: "I'm glad to see the world of NARUTO grow larger once again. I truly hope these cards find their way to both your hands and your hearts." Bandai has not published a separate game director or lead designer credit beyond crediting Kishimoto as a creative contributor to the card art and manga callbacks used throughout the set.
This is Bandai's fourth active anime trading card game line, joining the One Piece Card Game, Dragon Ball Super Card Game Fusion World, and Union Arena. If you already collect any of those, the OP-17 spoilers tracker runs on a similar model to this page: a living record of what's confirmed, updated as Bandai reveals more, rather than a one-time announcement writeup.
Bandai has confirmed five card types that structure every deck:
Confirmed deck construction is 1 Leader Card, a 51-card main deck, 5 Chakra Cards, and 1 Summon Card per player, a structure independently corroborated across Bandai's own press materials and third-party first-look coverage. The win condition is straightforward: reduce your opponent's Leader's Life Points to zero. That framing, a colored Leader anchoring deck identity and a Life total as the win condition, will feel immediately familiar to anyone who already plays the One Piece Card Game, though the specific resource loop (Chakra Cards powering Ninjutsu, Summon Cards fielding characters) is its own system, not a reskin.
What hasn't been confirmed yet: exact starting Life Point totals, the full list of Ninjutsu costs, how EX Character deployment conditions actually work in practice, and whether there's a DON!!-style extra resource layered on top of Chakra. Bandai's own materials describe the system in outline, not in full rules-text detail.
Seven characters have surfaced in official materials as of this writing: Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, Jiraiya, Itachi Uchiha, Orochimaru, and Boruto Uzumaki. The first five were named directly in Bandai's July 29 press release. Orochimaru and Boruto Uzumaki appear in the official website's own sample card gallery alongside repeat art of Naruto, Sasuke, Jiraiya, and Itachi.
One detail worth flagging directly: every sample card shown so far, across all seven characters, displays identical placeholder stats (DMG 3, POW 6, HP 6). That's a strong signal these are layout demonstration samples showing where damage, power, and HP numbers will sit on the finished card, not the actual balanced stats each character will ship with. Treat any specific number you see on a "SAMPLE" watermarked card as a mockup value, not a confirmed stat. Boruto Uzumaki's card is the one exception with extra confirmed detail: it lists "Lightning" as a subtype alongside his Hidden Leaf Village affiliation, suggesting chakra nature types (Lightning, Fire, Water, and so on) may function as a card trait, though Bandai hasn't explained the mechanic behind it yet.
The roster spans all three eras of the anime, Naruto, Naruto: Shippuden, and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, based on Bandai's own framing and the mix of characters shown (classic-era Naruto and Sasuke alongside Boruto himself). No leader colors, full ability text, or rarity structure have been confirmed for any of these seven cards yet.
Naruto Uzumaki's official sample card. Every character shown so far carries these same placeholder DMG/POW/HP numbers.
Bandai published a touring schedule of events where the game will appear before its Summer 2027 launch, beyond the Gen Con debut:
Bandai has specifically flagged New York Comic Con 2026 as a venue for "major reveals," language it hasn't used for the other stops on the tour, which makes it the next date worth watching if you want new confirmed cards or mechanics rather than a repeat of the Gen Con demo. Comparable Bandai TCGs, like Dragon Ball Super Card Game Fusion World, have historically used a similar convention-circuit rollout before their own worldwide launches, so this pacing isn't unusual for the publisher.
A card-accurate strategy TCG built on Naruto is a genuinely new lane for Bandai, not an extension of an existing one. The publisher already runs three separate anime TCG lines competing for the same shelf space and the same player base this site covers: One Piece, Dragon Ball Super, and the multi-IP Union Arena. A single-franchise Naruto product built with the same "strategy-focused" language Bandai used to describe One Piece TCG suggests it's aimed at competitive players first, collectors second, which is a different pitch than Union Arena's multi-IP, lower-commitment structure. Anyone weighing which anime TCG to actually invest time in already has a useful reference point in the best anime TCG to play comparison; it isn't rankable yet since it isn't out, but it's now a confirmed future entry in that conversation.
One clarification worth making: this has no connection to the mid-2000s Naruto Collectible Card Game that circulated years ago. It's a ground-up product from Bandai's current TCG division, built with the same team and design language behind Union Arena and the One Piece Card Game, not a revival of that older, unrelated product.
As of this writing, the following remain unknown or unannounced:
This is normal for a product roughly a year from release. The gap between reveal and launch is unusually long even by Bandai's own TCG standards, which typically confirm most of this within a few months of launch rather than a full year out.
New York Comic Con 2026 is the most likely near-term source of new confirmed details, given Bandai's own "major reveals" framing for that stop. Beyond that, expect the pattern most Bandai TCG launches follow: sporadic card reveals through the fall and winter convention circuit, a fuller mechanics breakdown and pricing announcement in the months closer to a confirmed date, and a full spoiler season in the weeks immediately before the Summer 2027 release. This tracker will update as Bandai confirms more.
When does the Naruto Card Game release? Bandai confirmed a worldwide simultaneous release for Summer 2027. No exact date has been announced. The game had its world debut at Gen Con 2026 in Indianapolis, nearly a year before the confirmed launch window.
Who makes the Naruto Card Game? BANDAI CO., LTD., under its BANDAI CARD GAMES brand, the same publisher behind the One Piece Card Game, Dragon Ball Super Card Game Fusion World, and Union Arena. Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto is credited as a creative contributor.
What are the card types in the Naruto Card Game? Five: Leader Cards (set color and strategy), Character Cards (frontline combat units), EX Character Cards (stronger units under specific conditions), Chakra Cards (the resource used to activate Ninjutsu), and Summon Cards (deploy Character Cards to the field).
What characters have been revealed for the Naruto Card Game? Seven so far, confirmed through official press releases and the official website's sample card gallery: Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, Jiraiya, Itachi Uchiha, Orochimaru, and Boruto Uzumaki. Full card text and stats have not been revealed.
How does a Naruto Card Game match end? A player wins by reducing their opponent's Leader's Life Points to zero. Confirmed deck construction is 1 Leader Card, a 51-card main deck, 5 Chakra Cards, and 1 Summon Card per player.
Is the Naruto Card Game the same as the older Naruto Collectible Card Game? No. This is a new, separate product from Bandai's current TCG division, unrelated to the mid-2000s Naruto Collectible Card Game. It shares more design DNA with Bandai's One Piece Card Game than with any past Naruto card product.
