Dragon Ball Fusion World vs One Piece TCG: the pick for each player

• You want to travel to big events: One Piece. Its July Regionals in Europe and Mexico drew from several hundred to over a thousand players each. The Fusion World Regionals that published attendance this fall drew under two hundred.
• You've never played a card game: Fusion World, mostly because you can learn it for nothing on the official digital client first.
• You want a cheap competitive deck right now: One Piece. Blue Rocks went 5-1 in October for under $100. Fusion World's winning deck costs more than twice that.
• You want a cheap way in for casual games: either. One Piece starters are $11.99 today, and Fusion World's two new $15.99 starters land on January 22, 2027.

The difference you'll feel: where your resources come from

Both games have Leaders, Life and attacks, so a One Piece player will recognize the board. The turn feels different because of one rule. In One Piece, two DON!! cards arrive every turn from their own deck. They cost you nothing, and the question is only how to spend them.

In Fusion World, energy comes out of your hand: once a turn you may put one card into your Energy Area. Every card you charge is a card you can't play or use in a fight, and the fights matter. Cards from your hand add Combo power to a battle, which is why the advice to a player coming over from One Piece in r/DBSFusionWorld started with this: "Combo power wins games. Likewise, lack of combo power loses games," u/OrangeEagle133 wrote.

So Fusion World turns are about what to give up from your hand, and One Piece turns are about where to put free resources. If you like Magic's land drop, Fusion World will feel closer to home.

Fusion World also has an official digital version, and that's the easiest way to try it. FB10 packs came with a code for it; the FB11 product page lists just the 12 cards. Players say the client hands out packs anyway: "You get free packs by logging in regularly and playing. Used to get code cards in packs, but I think that's done," u/Brave-Raisin-1683 wrote in the same thread.

What it costs to play each game

Packs cost the same in both games. The gap shows up in decks. Tyrone's SS3 Goku list that won the Fusion World Regional in Milwaukee comes to about $230 in regular prints; our Fusion World best cards for beginners breaks it down card by card. The One Piece lists that won three online events in mid-October ran from about $200 to $300.

One Piece has the cheaper competitive option. Blue Rocks finished second at ChinoizeCup #121 with a 5-1 record on a list under $100, and our budget One Piece decks guide has that list and four others.

For casual play, starters are the cheap door in. One Piece has six $11.99 starters out now (which one to buy). Fusion World's FS13 and FS14 arrive in January at $15.99, ready to play out of the box.

When the other game is the better pick

Fusion World wins if you want to learn before you buy, if your group already plays Dragon Ball, or if smaller events suit you. A Fusion World Regional this fall was seven rounds of Swiss. Our Fusion World beginner guide covers the first game.

One Piece wins if you care about the size of the scene. More players means more events, more trades and more decklists to copy, and its July Regionals were several times bigger than anything Fusion World published this fall. Start with the One Piece beginner guide.

Our call: if you're picking one game to play seriously in 2027, we'd pick One Piece for the scene. If you're picking a game to enjoy with friends, buy the Fusion World starters in January and download the client this week.
