Riftbound Radiance Best Cards From 74 Tournament Decklists

The hyped Radiance cards mostly stayed home. A 25-cent uncommon did the work at both events; the Battlefield that joined it at Showdown 5 didn't hold up.

9 min readBy Alex Chen

Our callBuy singles, not boxes: Reckless Innovator made 5 of 16 Top 16 lists at Showdown 5 and 8 at the 755-player Sacramento Showdown, for about 25 cents. Skip Bandle Scouts' Academy unless you play Yasuo.

The Riftbound Radiance best cards so far aren't the ones the preview videos picked. NovaRiftbound's $2,000 Online Showdown 5 on October 18 was played five days before release with every decklist public, and 70 of its 74 lists ran at least one Radiance card. The ones that showed up in the Top 16 were cheap and plain: a 3-cost Piltover unit, a Battlefield, two Kai'Sa role-players and the Riven package that won the event 9-0-1. Six days later, the 755-player LDXP Sacramento Showdown gave us 721 more public lists to check those picks against: Riven won again, the Piltover unit held up, and the Battlefield didn't.

TL;DR: Buy RAD-105RAD-105 card artRAD-105Shop on TCGplayer Reckless Innovator as singles now. It was in 5 of the 16 Top 16 lists at Showdown 5 and 8 at Sacramento, and costs about 25 cents. Riven is the only Radiance Legend that did anything, at both events. RAD-157RAD-157 card artRAD-157Shop on TCGplayer Bandle Scouts' Academy made 6 Top 16 lists at Showdown 5 and 0 of 55 at Sacramento, so it's a Yasuo card, not a staple. RAD-129RAD-129 card artRAD-129Shop on TCGplayer Trifarian Captain was everywhere at Showdown 5 and lost more than it won, because it came attached to Kennen.

Buy singles, skip boxes for play

Showdown 5 was played online five days before Radiance's October 23 release, and 74 lists is a small sample, so we recounted everything against the LDXP Sacramento Showdown of October 24, where 721 of 755 players have public lists on riftbound.gg. Most of the Radiance cards that did well cost under a dollar as of October 31. The exception is the Riven Signature gear RAD-150RAD-150 card artRAD-150Shop on TCGplayer Blade of the Exile, at about $38 a copy, foil only.

If you're building to play, buy the singles below. If you're opening boxes, open them for the Radiance chase cards, not because you expect a deck out of them.

Prices are TCGplayer market prices on October 31, 2026, for the cheapest printing, read from TCGplayer's product price data. Its daily price file of October 30 is within 3 cents on every card except Blade of the Exile ($38.39). Where only a foil price is listed, we say so. They fell hard after release: on October 23, Reckless Innovator was $1.81 and Blade of the Exile $50.01.

The best Radiance cards, one call each

1. Reckless Innovator: the best Radiance card for Constructed. A 3-cost, 3 Might unit with [Accelerate]. Riot's text: "When I become exhausted, choose one", either a Gold gear token or pay a Chaos power to draw 1. At Showdown 5 it was in all 9 Riven lists, 4 Kennen lists and 2 Irelia lists. At Sacramento it was in all 96 Riven lists and 30 Kennen lists, and its 154 lists went 654-476-48. Any Chaos deck that attacks wants it. Buy three.

2. Bandle Scouts' Academy: the Battlefield Yasuo picked up, and only Yasuo. "When you hide a card here, play a Gold gear token exhausted." At Showdown 5, all 12 Yasuo lists registered it, and it was the only Radiance card in any of them. Yasuo put 6 players in the Top 16. When the card was revealed on September 30, u/Ikhis called it "Good for anyone using hidden cards as blind battlefield." Sacramento is the warning: no Yasuo players registered there, 55 lists ran the Academy (32 Evelynn, 15 Vex), and they went 166-185-19 with none in the Top 16. It's an 11-cent pickup if you play Yasuo, not a card the format needs.

3. The Riven package: the one Radiance deck that won, twice. RAD-149RAD-149 card artRAD-149Shop on TCGplayer Riven's Legend, The Exile, says "Units you play to battlefields you control enter ready." RAD-043RAD-043 card artRAD-043Shop on TCGplayer Riven, Broken Blade is her 4-cost Chosen Champion, and Blade of the Exile is a 3-cost Equipment that gives +3 Might and Ganking. Sithis won Showdown 5 with it at 9-0-1, and Nam Dang won Sacramento with Riven at 11-0-2, one of 7 Riven lists in that Top 16. Our Riven deck guide, linked below, has the full list and what each card does. Worth it if you want to play Riven. Three Blades are about $114, so it's not a casual pickup.

4. Bedeviling Stranger: most played, not the best. RAD-107RAD-107 card artRAD-107Shop on TCGplayer Bedeviling Stranger is a 2-cost [Hidden] unit that can bounce an enemy unit from a crowded battlefield. 22 lists ran it, 11 of them Kennen and 8 Riven. Its lists went 46-50-3. A fine 2-drop, not a reason to change decks.

5. Bilgewater Tracker: every Kai'Sa list ran it. RAD-003RAD-003 card artRAD-003Shop on TCGplayer Bilgewater Tracker deals 1 to each of up to two units when you play it. All 12 Kai'Sa lists had it at Showdown 5, and Kai'Sa finished 2nd; all 34 Kai'Sa lists had it at Sacramento, where the best Kai'Sa finished 10th. At 14 cents a copy, there's no reason not to own three.

6. The Empyrean: the Kai'Sa top end. RAD-060RAD-060 card artRAD-060Shop on TCGplayer The Empyrean is an 8-cost, 8 Might unit that shows off a card to look ahead and draw 2. Nine of the 12 Kai'Sa lists ran it, and those 9 lists went 32-20-1, the best record of any Radiance card here. Only Kai'Sa players need it.

7. Ki Burst: the Riven enabler. RAD-028RAD-028 card artRAD-028Shop on TCGplayer Ki Burst costs 1 and asks you to exhaust a friendly unit to Stun a unit. In a deck full of "when I become exhausted" cards, that cost is a bonus. Eight of the 9 Riven lists ran it at Showdown 5, but only 40 of the 96 at Sacramento. Outside Riven, one Vex list at Showdown 5.

8. Trifarian Captain: popular, and it lost at Showdown 5. It looks at the top 4 cards and draws a cheap unit or gear. All 14 Kennen lists ran it, usually three copies, and that's the problem: Kennen was the most played Legend at Showdown 5 and went 26-32-2, with no player above 13th. u/KeishunRiftbound predicted before release that "With Trifarian Captain coming in from Set 5 Radiance, I think Nocturne is highly likely to come back into the meta." The Kennen lists did play it. They didn't win with it that weekend. At Sacramento, all 56 Kennen lists ran it again and Kennen went 240-158-29 with 3 Top 16 finishes, so the Captain's 115 lists came out ahead, 411-374-44. Hold off on a playset unless you already play Kennen.

Honorable mentions. RAD-032RAD-032 card artRAD-032Shop on TCGplayer Battle Preparations (Riven, Irelia, Azir), RAD-106RAD-106 card artRAD-106Shop on TCGplayer The Good Stuff (3 Riven lists, including the winner's), RAD-163RAD-163 card artRAD-163Shop on TCGplayer Hunters' Circle (5 Riven lists at Showdown 5, then 90 of the 96 at Sacramento, where its 123 lists put 5 in the Top 16) and RAD-101RAD-101 card artRAD-101Shop on TCGplayer An Offer You Can't Refuse, gear removal that 6 Kennen players ran. The 10 lists with An Offer went 14-21.

What Radiance did to the format

Radiance added nine Legends. One of them mattered, at both events.

At Showdown 5, the rest of the field was the Vendetta format with Radiance cards added: Kennen (14 players), Kai'Sa (12), Yasuo (12) and Akali (4) were the other big groups. Yasuo had the most Top 16 finishes with 6. Sacramento's Top 16 was 7 Riven, 3 Kennen, 2 Kai'Sa and one each of Akali, Rengar, LeBlanc and Viktor. So the set changed what the old decks play more than it changed which decks people play, with Riven as the one exception. The Riftbound meta tier list covers those Legends.

If you bought the Evelynn or Seraphine Showdown Deck, this doesn't make it a bad buy, but it isn't a tournament deck yet. Evelynn's best Sacramento finish was 21st and Seraphine's 106th, and those decks are built to be played out of the box. Our Evelynn vs Seraphine guide is about that choice.

What the preview picks got wrong

Poro Party TCG's October 9 set review picked the cards it thought would "Change The Meta". Here's how 16 of its 17 picks did at Showdown 5. We couldn't match the 17th, "Silence", to a Radiance card name in the decklist data.

The video was right about Reckless Innovator and Riven, and it gave Riven its longest segment, 3 minutes 42 seconds. Seven of the picks didn't make a single list. That's normal for the first week of a set, and it's why we'd wait for results before paying for anything that isn't in the Top 16 table above.

Who should skip Radiance for now

  • Anyone buying Radiance for Kennen. Captain and Stranger are already in your deck. Kennen had a bad Showdown 5 and a good Sacramento with the same cards, so Radiance isn't what moved it.
  • Anyone buying boxes to build Riven. Blade of the Exile is an Epic. Buying three singles is cheaper than opening for them.
  • Players waiting on Mordekaiser, Ekko, Ziggs, Orianna, Seraphine, Jarvan IV or K'Sante. None of the seven made the Top 16 at Sacramento; the four nobody registered at Showdown 5 finished 76th or lower there. Wait for a list that does before you build them.

Our take

We'd buy three Reckless Innovator today, whatever you play: about 72 cents in plain, or about $4.60 in foil. Add the Riven Legend, three Blades (about $114) and Hunters' Circle if you want to try the deck that won both events. Bandle Scouts' Academy is for Yasuo players only. We wouldn't buy Trifarian Captain on hype, and we wouldn't open boxes to build a deck.

Remember that Showdown 5 was one online event of 74 players before the set was in stores, and Sacramento is one weekend too. Riven winning both, with 7 of Sacramento's Top 16, is the closest thing to a settled result Radiance has. The numbers we'd watch next are Kennen's: it went from 26-32-2 to 240-158-29 in six days, and Captain moves with it.

How we checked this: on October 23, 2026 we pulled all 74 decklists and the standings (match records as W-L-D) for NovaRiftbound's $2,000 Online Showdown 5 from riftbound.gg's public data and counted every Radiance card with our script (scripts/sims/riftbound-showdown5-radiance.py, no randomness). On October 29 we reran it on Showdown 5 (same counts) and on the 721 public lists of the LDXP Sacramento Showdown (--event sacramento). Card text is from Riot's official card gallery; prices are TCGplayer market prices on October 31, read from TCGplayer's product price data and checked against its daily price file.
