FB11 Son Goku Deck Guide: Red Evolve Redirect Build

The FB11 leader we'd hand a new player: one draw engine, two ways to flip.

7 min readBy Kai Tanaka

Our callStart here if FB11 is your first Fusion World set: draw on every attack, flip off a single Evolve card, then steer one attack a turn into it. Look elsewhere if you want to end games fast.

New to Fusion World? Any FB11 Son Goku deck guide should start there, because he's the set's most forgiving leader. He draws on every attack from turn one, he has two separate ways to flip, and his Awakened side has an obvious job: once a turn, pull an opposing Battle Card's attack onto an Evolve card you'd rather lose than your life.

TL;DR: Son Goku (FB11-001, Red) draws 1 When Attacking on both sides. He Awakens when your life is 4 or less, or when you have 2+ energy and a card with Evolve in your Battle Area. Awakened, once per turn when an opponent's Battle Card attacks, you may switch its target to an Evolve card you control. The deck wants Evolve cards in play early and big Evolve bodies to soak the hit.

How the leader actually plays

Front side. [When Attacking] draw 1. The Awaken has two triggers and you only need one: your life at 4 or less, or 2 or more energy plus any card with [Evolve] in your Battle Area. He's the only FB11 leader with two paths; the other four each have one.

The proactive path is easier than it looks. The Evolve card doesn't have to be evolved onto anything. A card that has the Evolve keyword counts the moment it's in your Battle Area, however you played it. So the question is just: how fast can you land one Evolve card?

Back side. Still draws 1 When Attacking. The new skill is an [Auto]: when an opponent's Battle Card attacks, you may choose one card with Evolve in your Battle Area and switch the attack target to it. Then the skill is off for the turn. Two limits matter: it's one attack per turn, and it only answers Battle Card attacks, not the opposing leader's.

The FB11 core package

These are the Red FB11 cards we'd start from. Copy counts are ours, not a tournament list.

CardCostWhat it does for this deckOur copies
FB11-009 Son Goku (R)1On Play: look at 3, take a Son Goku or an Earthling4
FB11-011 Son Goku (SR)4Evolve for 1 onto a Son Goku; once per turn, wins a battle: look at 2, keep 14
FB11-016 Son Gohan : Adolescence (R)5Evolve for 2 onto Son Gohan : Adolescence or Great Saiyaman; stands itself and a 10000-power Earthling back up4
FB11-002 Great Saiyaman (SR)3Plays a cost-1 Saiyan or Earthling from hand, then your next Evolve from hand costs 2 less3
FB11-017 Trunks : Youth (SR)1Trade it in mid-battle: a 30000+ Evolve card gets Double Strike and +50003
FB11-020 Bulma (R)1-5000 on play; later, -10000 if you have an Evolve card out3
FB11-010 Son Goku (C)2Every opposing Battle Card costing 1 or less gets -10000 for the turn2

FB11-011 is the deck. It's the cheapest way to get an Evolve card into play: one Son Goku on board plus 1 energy, and the leader's second condition is live. It also refills your hand every time it wins a battle, including battles it wins on defense after you redirect into it.

FB11-002 sets up the big turn. It puts a one-drop into play for free and knocks 2 off your next Evolve, which turns FB11-016 into a cheap jump.

FB11-017 is the closer. Save it for the turn where Double Strike on a 30000-power Evolve card ends the game, not for a turn where it only adds a little damage.

Opening-hand odds (our math)

Fusion World decks run 50 to 60 cards with up to four copies of a card number, you start with six cards, and each player may redraw once. For a 50-card list, exact odds of holding an Evolve card in your opening six:

  • Four FB11-011: 41.1%, or 65.3% if you redraw every hand without one.
  • Eight Evolve cards (adding four FB11-016): 67.0%, or 89.1% with the redraw.

That's why we run both playsets. With four Evolve cards, about a third of your hands still have none after the redraw; with eight, it's closer to one in ten.

Matchups and sequencing

Against fast decks, the life path is a resource, not an emergency. FB11-010 shrinks every opposing one-drop by 10000 for the turn, and Bulma shrinks a bigger threat once your Evolve card is down. Redirect only when the Evolve card survives the hit or has already done its job.

Against slower decks, go proactive: FB11-009 into FB11-011, flip early, and attack every turn to keep drawing. Bandai's Q&A shows a Blocker can go first and the redirect after, so blockers and the leader don't compete.

Know what the redirect can't do. It doesn't stop the opposing leader's attack, and it only moves one attack per turn. If your opponent's plan is a wide board of attackers, the redirect alone won't save you.

Our take

We'd hand Son Goku to anyone starting with FB11. The draw-on-attack floor is the same as every FB11 leader, but nobody else gets two ways to flip, and an Evolve card is easy to land with eight in the deck. His weakness is a slow clock: Red here wins long games on card advantage rather than racing. If you want a fast deck, look elsewhere.

How we checked this

Every card here was read on Bandai's official Fusion World card database on October 14, 2026, along with the FB11 Q&A (three Son Goku rulings) and the basic-rules FAQ for deck size, copy limit and the opening redraw. The other four FB11 leaders' Awaken text was checked on their own card pages for the "only leader with two paths" claim. The opening-hand figures are exact hypergeometric odds we worked out for a 50-card deck; we haven't played the deck, and no English FB11 results exist yet. Twenty-seven sources in total.
