Reviewing
Union Arena
Union Arena InuYasha EN prerelease and release events run during the official Release Event Period, August 14-20, 2026, the same week InuYasha EN street-releases. If you have been following the InuYasha EN release and want to participate, here is what to expect from the format, the prizes, and how to prepare.
TL;DR: Union Arena InuYasha EN release events run during the official Release Event Period, August 14-20, 2026, the same week as the August 14 street release. Five Pack Battle sealed format with 5 packs per kit. You keep all cards you open. Best entry point for new Union Arena players. Confirm your LGS participation closer to the date since not all stores run Union Arena release events.
Release Event Period: August 14-20, 2026 (same week as the August 14 street release)
Format: Sealed deck using your release event kit packs
Products available: Release event kits (5 packs + promo) at participating local game stores
Cards are yours: All cards opened at prerelease belong to you
The prerelease format is the same across all Union Arena EN releases. You receive a sealed kit, open your packs, build a deck from what you open plus basic cards provided by the store, then play matches against other prerelease participants. No deck construction experience is required.
Not all local game stores run Union Arena prerelease events. Check your store's website or call ahead to confirm your LGS is participating before planning your attendance.
Prerelease events follow the same structure regardless of set.
1. Register in advance or at the door, depending on the store. Some stores cap prerelease at 20-32 players; others run open entry. Registration fees vary but typically include the prerelease kit.
2. Open your kit on the spot. Each participant receives their sealed product and opens 5 booster packs right there. This is your sealed pool for the event.
3. Build your deck within 15 minutes. Using only the cards you opened plus basic cards provided by the store, you build a playable deck within Union Arena format rules, per the official Five Pack Battle rules. Store staff assist new players who need it.
4. Play 3-4 Swiss rounds against other participants. Matches are best-of-1, all sealed decks. Competitive pressure is lower than a constructed event since nobody has an optimized deck.
5. Collect prizes based on your store's structure. Stores typically award additional packs or promo cards for wins; common formats are a participation promo plus extra packs for top finishers.
6. Keep everything you opened. All cards from your sealed kit are yours after the event. Many players buy additional sealed product at the store once it wraps.
Inuyasha (UA50BT-043) is one of the highest-demand sealed pulls at prerelease , opening his card in your kit gives you a competitive foundation to build around at the event.

If you are attending prerelease and want to build the best sealed deck possible:
Prioritize SR and SR+ cards first. These are your most impactful cards. In Union Arena sealed, a single SR character often defines your deck's game plan. Build around your best SR pull.
Pick one or two characters to focus on. InuYasha EN's most recognizable characters are Inuyasha, Kagome, Sesshomaru, and Naraku. If your sealed pool is heavy in one character's support cards, lean into that package. Splitting across three or four characters in sealed often results in a weaker deck than committing to two.
Evaluate the AP curve. Union Arena decks need cards across the AP cost range. If your sealed pool has mostly high-AP cards (5+), you need low-cost characters to survive early. If you have strong early characters, look for finishers in the higher costs.
Use all your basic cards. The store provides basic/common Union Arena cards for sealed. Use them to fill gaps in your curve. New players sometimes ignore these; do not.
Prioritize recovery effects. InuYasha JP meta showed strong recovery effects (bringing characters back from the Break Zone) as a central mechanic. If your EN sealed pool has recovery effects, they are usually worth building around.
The Union Arena InuYasha EN starter deck guide covers the full character roster and their roles, which helps you evaluate which pulls to build around at prerelease.
Kagome Higurashi (UA50BT-065), knowing her role before prerelease helps you evaluate sealed pools that are heavy in her support cards.
Required: Nothing beyond registration and payment. The store provides sealed kits and basic cards.

Optional: If you have existing Union Arena experience, bring your rulebook questions. Prerelease judges are usually available for rules clarifications.
Yes, and prerelease is actually the best first event for most new players. Reasons:
Nobody has an optimized deck. In a constructed event, experienced players show up with decks that have been tuned over months. At prerelease, the sealed format puts everyone on the same footing. New players have a realistic chance of winning rounds.
Community is welcoming. Prerelease events attract a mix of veterans and newcomers. The casual atmosphere of opening new cards together creates a better first experience than a competitive constructed event.
You learn the cards. Opening and playing with InuYasha EN cards in a low-stakes environment teaches you the set faster than reading about it. By the time the Release Event Period wraps on August 20, you will know which cards you want to pick up for constructed.
You get product at MSRP. Prerelease kits are generally priced at MSRP. After August 14, demand for specific InuYasha EN singles drives singles prices. The prerelease is one of the last times you get sealed product at face value.
GODEEPER: Once you have the cards from prerelease, see what Sesshomaru and Kagome actually do on the board. Union Arena InuYasha Sesshomaru and Kagome Guide
