Reviewing
Union Arena
This Union Arena InuYasha Sesshomaru and Kagome guide covers what these two Super Rare cards actually do, based on their real printed text fetched directly from Bandai's official card database, not speculation about how their anime personalities might translate into game mechanics. Both headlined the original anime and The Final Act, but this guide sticks to what's confirmed on the cards themselves.
One important note upfront: no tournament or tier data exists for InuYasha yet, in JP or EN. Bandai's official top-placing decks archive lists zero InuYasha results across every current Championship event. Everything below is a card-text breakdown, not a meta report. If you're deciding whether to import JP now or wait for EN, the Union Arena InuYasha buying guide covers that cost math.
TL;DR: Sesshomaru (UA50BT/IYS-1-009, SR, Purple, 4500+ BP, 6 energy) is a top-end payoff that rewards playing characters from your sideline. Kagome Higurashi (UA50BT/IYS-1-066, SR, Red, 4000 BP, 4 energy) enables cheap plays and grants evasion by resting an active Inuyasha, not card draw. They're different colors, Sesshomaru pairs with Naraku in Purple, Kagome pairs with Inuyasha and Kikyo in Red, so they aren't automatically in the same deck. EN releases August 14 at $4.99/pack.
Sesshomaru is a high-cost Purple finisher that scales with how many characters you play from your sideline. Kagome is a Red enabler that plays cheap Inuyasha-family cards and grants evasion, not a draw engine. They're different colors and don't naturally sit in the same 50-card build unless you're deliberately mixing Red and Purple within the InuYasha pool.
Sesshomaru SR is the set's top-end Purple payoff; Kagome is the Red enabler that plays cheap Inuyasha-family cards and grants evasion.
Sesshomaru (UA50BT/IYS-1-009, SR) is Purple, 4500+ BP, costs 6 Purple energy and 1 AP. His full printed ability, fetched directly from Bandai's official card database: a Raid effect (switch to active, may move to the front line), a Turn Effect that gains him 500 BP and Impact 1 on any turn you play a character from your sideline, and a When Played effect that can play a small Purple character (3 or less required energy, 1 AP cost, no affinities) from your sideline set to resting. His trigger adds him to hand, or performs Raid with him if you have the energy.
Sesshomaru is a top-end payoff, not a removal or board-clearing card. His power comes from rewarding a deck that develops its sideline and plays characters from it: the more you do that on a given turn, the bigger he gets. His own When Played effect can also help by cheating a small Purple character straight onto the field, which is itself a form of sideline development if timed right.
Because he costs 6 energy, he's a late-game play by design. Curving into him means having enough energy online and enough board development already happening for his Turn Effect to matter. He's not a card you jam turn one; he's the payoff for a Purple deck that's been setting up.

Sesshomaru's autograph SR variant is among the more sought-after pulls in UE23BT, since he's a fan-favorite character with strong name recognition. Autograph cards are gameplay-identical to a standard SR copy of the same card, foil-stamped with the Japanese voice cast's signature. The Union Arena card rarities guide covers how the rarity structure and autograph inserts work. For competitive players, the standard SR provides the same effect at a fraction of the cost; the autograph version is a collector's premium, not a gameplay upgrade.
Kagome Higurashi (UA50BT/IYS-1-066, SR) is Red, 4000 BP, costs 4 Red energy and 1 AP. Her full printed ability: a Raid effect, a When Played effect that plays a red Inuyasha or Kagome card (3 or less required energy, 1 AP cost) from your hand set to resting, and an Activate: Main ability, usable once per turn while she's on the front line, that rests an active Inuyasha to grant herself "cannot be blocked by a character with 4000 or more BP" for the turn and gives another character on your field 1000 BP.
Kagome is an enabler, not a draw engine. Her When Played effect lets you deploy a second cheap Inuyasha-family piece for free tempo, and her Activate ability turns an already-attacking Inuyasha into a source of evasion and a power buff elsewhere on the board. The tradeoff is real: resting Inuyasha to fuel her ability means he can't also swing that combat, so sequencing which character attacks and which one fuels Kagome matters.

Kagome shares her color with Inuyasha and Kikyo, both of whom also have abilities that key off resting an active Inuyasha, so a Red InuYasha deck likely wants more than one of these pieces to make that tap-synergy consistent. Since no tournament data exists yet, treat any specific copy count as a card-text-informed guess, not a confirmed ratio.
Kagome's autograph SR variant carries the same collector appeal as Sesshomaru's, foil-stamped with the Japanese voice cast's signature and gameplay-identical to a standard SR copy. For competitive play, the standard SR provides the same effect; the autograph version is for collectors specifically attached to the character or cast.
Not automatically. Sesshomaru is Purple; Kagome is Red. They don't share a card text synergy, and Union Arena's single-IP deckbuilding rule means an InuYasha deck can mix both colors, but a deck built specifically around Sesshomaru's sideline-development payoff and one built around Kagome's Inuyasha-tap engine are pulling in different directions.
If you're building a Red InuYasha deck, Kagome's real partners are Inuyasha and Kikyo, all three key off resting an active Inuyasha for a bonus. If you're building Purple, Sesshomaru's real partner is Naraku, whose resilience ability also rewards a slower, board-development-focused plan. Mixing both colors in one 50-card list is legal, but nothing in either card's text specifically rewards doing so.
Sesshomaru's Purple kit rewards sideline development; Kagome's Red kit rewards tapping Inuyasha for evasion and tempo. Different color pools, different game plans.
Step 1: Decide which color appeals more to you. If you want a slower, high-power finisher plan, Purple with Sesshomaru is the priority. If you want a faster, tap-synergy tempo plan, Red with Kagome, Inuyasha, and Kikyo is the priority. Since no tournament data exists yet, this is a playstyle choice, not a competitive verdict.
Step 2: Read the confirmed card text for your color before buying. The Union Arena deck building guide covers how to construct a competitive 50-card InuYasha list. Since no InuYasha tournament results exist yet in JP or EN, base your singles budget on what the cards actually do, not on unverified community tier claims.
Step 3: Don't pre-order boxes chasing a specific autograph. Autograph pull rates in Union Arena are low and unpublished. If your goal is a specific Sesshomaru or Kagome autograph card, the secondary market post-launch is almost always cheaper than opening enough boxes to hit one at random.
Step 4: Buy the competitive SRs as singles after launch. Prices generally settle a couple weeks after a set's release once initial demand cools. Check live TCGPlayer listings when you're ready to buy rather than assuming a fixed timeline.
On the Sesshomaru side, timing is everything. He costs 6 energy, and his Turn Effect only pays off if you're actually playing characters from your sideline that turn. Sequence your sideline development so his big turn lines up with maximum value, rather than playing him the moment you can afford to.
On the Kagome side, watch the resource cost of her Activate ability closely: resting an active Inuyasha to fuel her means he isn't attacking that combat either. Weigh whether the evasion and power buff she grants are worth more than Inuyasha's own attack that turn, since you can't have both from the same character in the same combat.
One thing to understand about Union Arena for players coming from other card games: the FINAL trigger means your hand size and deck composition matter beyond just board state. The Union Arena how to play guide covers FINAL and the full turn structure for players who haven't learned the game yet.
What does Sesshomaru's card actually do? Sesshomaru (UA50BT/IYS-1-009, SR, Purple, 4500+ BP, 6 energy) gains 500 BP and Impact 1 whenever you play a character from your sideline that turn, and can cheat a small Purple character into play. He's a board-development finisher, not a removal or threat-clearing card.
What does Kagome's card actually do? Kagome (UA50BT/IYS-1-066, SR, Red, 4000 BP, 4 energy) plays a cheap Inuyasha or Kagome card from hand on entry, then can rest an active Inuyasha to become unblockable by high-power characters and buff another character. Her role is enabling cheap plays and evasion, not card draw.
When does the English UE23BT InuYasha set release? August 14, 2026. The Japanese version (UA50BT) launched May 29, 2026. EN cards are identical in gameplay with English text.
Is there real pricing or tournament data for Sesshomaru and Kagome yet? No. Bandai's official top-placing decks archive lists zero InuYasha results in JP or EN. EN singles pricing won't be knowable until after the August 14 launch; check TCGPlayer directly rather than a fixed estimate.
Can you build a deck around just Sesshomaru or just Kagome? Yes, more naturally than running both together. Sesshomaru is Purple (with Naraku); Kagome is Red (with Inuyasha and Kikyo). Union Arena's single-IP rule lets a 50-card InuYasha deck mix colors, but nothing in either card's text specifically rewards combining them.
What's the difference between UA50BT and UE23BT? UA50BT is the Japanese InuYasha set released May 29, 2026. UE23BT is the English equivalent releasing August 14, 2026. Same card content, different language. JP imports cost $10-30 more per display than EN MSRP.
