Reviewing
Union Arena
Union Arena Kagome Higurashi is one of four confirmed Red Character Super Rares in the InuYasha set, and her card does two distinct jobs: she discounts your curve early, then becomes a real threat once Inuyasha is on the field. This guide focuses on her specific text and role rather than re-explaining the whole Red deck.
TL;DR: Kagome Higurashi (UA50BT/IYS-1-066) costs 4 Red energy for a 4000 BP body. When Played, she plays a cheap Inuyasha- or Kagome-family card from hand. From the front line, once per turn, she can rest an active Inuyasha to become unblockable by 4000+ BP characters and pump a second character 1000 BP. She has no connection to any "Jewel Shard" counter mechanic; that framing isn't in her printed text.
Two things, at two different times. On the turn you play her, her When Played effect lets you play up to one Red Inuyasha- or Kagome-family card with 3 or less required energy and 1 AP cost from your hand, set to resting, onto your field. That's a real cost discount: you're playing two bodies for the price of Kagome's own energy. Later, once she's on your front line, her Activate: Main ability, usable once per turn, rests an active Inuyasha; if you do, she gains "cannot be blocked by a character with 4000 or more BP" until end of turn, and you choose up to one other character on your field to gain 1000 BP.

Kagome's printed card text: the front-line Activate ability only unlocks once you rest an active Inuyasha.
Full text, quoted from the official Union Arena card list: "[Raid] Switch to active. May move to the front line. [When Played] Play up to one red or card with 3 or less required energy and 1 AP cost from your hand set to resting onto your field. [Activate: Main] [If on the Front Line] [Once Per Turn] Switch one active on your front line to resting. If you do, this character gains 'This character cannot be blocked by a character with 4000 or more BP' until the end of the turn, and choose up to one other character on your field. It gains 1000 BP until the end of the turn."
Three separate clauses worth breaking down:
Kagome's strongest mode is tied directly to Inuyasha's own card. Inuyasha (UA50BT/IYS-1-046) has a matching piece on his side: his Activate: Main ability only works on a turn he was switched from active to resting by one of your own abilities. Kagome resting him is exactly the kind of effect his own text is waiting for. Play them in the same turn cycle, Kagome rests Inuyasha to unlock her unblockable clause, and Inuyasha's own reactivation ability comes online for his next attack.

Kikyo (UA50BT/IYS-1-049) does the same job as Kagome for this specific interaction, resting an active Inuyasha from her own Activate: Main ability. If you're deciding which of the two to prioritize drawing into on a given turn, Kikyo's version only works the turn she's played, while Kagome's is repeatable every turn she's on the front line, which makes Kagome the more consistent long-term engine piece of the two.
Kagome and Kikyo both key off resting an active Inuyasha; Kagome's version is repeatable, Kikyo's only works the turn she's played.
That distinction matters for which one you'd rather see off a Life card. Kikyo's trigger effect is [Get], adding her straight to your hand when you flip her, so seeing her mid-combat gives you an immediate extra copy on top of whatever your main deck already drew. Kagome doesn't carry a printed trigger effect in the text confirmed for this guide, which is one more reason to treat her as a hand and field piece rather than something you're counting on to show up off Life.

It's worth being honest about the trade-off buried in Kagome's front-line ability, since it's easy to read past. To activate it, you rest an active Inuyasha. That means Inuyasha can't attack that combat if you use Kagome's ability first, or he's already spent his attack if you use it after. There's no version of this turn where Inuyasha attacks AND Kagome unlocks her unblockable clause off him in the same combat step; the ability explicitly requires him to go from active to resting, which combat also does on its own.
The practical sequencing question is whether you want Inuyasha's attack this turn, or Kagome's unblockable-plus-pump. If Inuyasha is already resting from a previous turn's attack, Kagome's ability simply isn't available yet; you're waiting for him to untap first. This is different from Kikyo, whose ability has the same requirement (an active Inuyasha to rest) but only works the turn she was played, so Kikyo is more of a one-time swing piece while Kagome is the repeatable engine, provided you can keep feeding her an active Inuyasha turn after turn.
Kagome shares her 4-energy slot with Inuyasha himself, so a Red InuYasha deck is naturally curve-heavy at that cost. A few practical notes:
What does Kagome Higurashi do? Discounts a cheap Inuyasha- or Kagome-family card on play, then from the front line can rest an active Inuyasha for unblockable status and a team pump.
How much does she cost? 4 Red energy and 1 AP for a 4000 BP body.
Do I need Inuyasha on the field for her to be good? Her front-line ability specifically requires an active Inuyasha; her When Played discount works without him.
Is Kagome part of a "Jewel Shard" mechanic? No. Her card text has nothing to do with any counter-accumulation mechanic.
How many copies should I run? Up to 4, the deck maximum, weighed against your other 4-cost Red cards.
Is she a good early pull? She's one of four confirmed Red SRs at standard SR odds; no elevated pull rate is confirmed for her specifically.
