Disney Lorcana
Attack of the Vine Monsters Inc characters landed with Set 13, and they print in Amber, Ruby, and Sapphire ink, not Emerald as an earlier version of this guide speculated before real card text was public. Mike Wazowski, Sulley, and Boo all have Amber printings; Sulley, Boo, and Randall Boggs also get Ruby and Sapphire versions. Nine cards total across seven characters, confirmed against the official Set 13 database.
TL;DR: Monsters Inc characters split across three inks in Set 13: Amber (Mike Wazowski x2, Boo, Sulley, Celia Mae), Ruby (a second Sulley and Randall Boggs print), and Sapphire (a third Sulley, a second Randall, Roz, and Waternoose). The top rarity for the franchise is Super Rare, on Sulley - The New Boss (Amber) and the two-cost Sulley & Boo - Scare Buddies team-up card. Set 13 launched July 24, 2026.
Monsters Inc adds nine cards across seven named characters to Set 13, split across three inks. Amber gets the largest share: two Mike Wazowski prints, one Sulley, one Boo, and Celia Mae. Ruby gets a second Sulley and the first Randall Boggs. Sapphire gets a third Sulley, a second Randall, Roz, and Henry J. Waternoose III. There is no Emerald Monsters Inc card in Set 13 at all -- the franchise that actually lands in Emerald this set is Up (Carl Fredricksen, Ellie Fredricksen, and Russell).
For Amber deck builders, the Amber-side Monsters Inc pieces slot straight into Amber/Emerald Aggro (the archetype some trackers list as Amber/Emerald Elinor) since that deck runs Amber as one of its two inks. For collectors, this is the franchise's first Lorcana appearance -- the Amber Sulley - The New Boss and the Sulley & Boo - Scare Buddies team-up card are the two most-wanted prints from the set.
Stitch - Little Trickster is one of the key characters in this Lorcana format.
Mike Wazowski prints twice in Amber, and neither version is the Emerald-style disruptor an earlier version of this guide guessed at. Mike Wazowski - Heroic Climber (AOV-018, 2-cost Super Rare, 0 Strength / 4 Willpower / 1 Lore) reads: "FIND A FRIEND: When you play this character and whenever he quests, each player reveals the top card of their deck. If it's a character card, they may put it into their hand. Otherwise, put it on the bottom of their deck." That's repeatable card selection tied to a durable 4-Willpower body, closer to a value engine than an aggressive 2-drop.
The second print, Mike Wazowski - Well-Rounded Entertainer (AOV-021, 1-cost Common, 2 Strength / 1 Willpower / 1 Lore), is the cheaper, more aggressive option: "MAKE 'EM LAUGH: When you play this character, you may pay 2 {i} to give chosen character +1 {l} this turn." A 1-cost body with 2 Strength that can pay into a Lore boost fits an Amber Aggro curve far better than Heroic Climber does.
For Amber/Emerald Aggro, Well-Rounded Entertainer is the more natural include at the 1-drop slot; Heroic Climber is the pick for grindier Amber shells that want repeatable card advantage over raw early pressure.

Sulley's headline print is Amber, and it's built around resilience rather than raw power. Sulley - The New Boss (AOV-024, 5-cost Super Rare, 4 Strength / 4 Willpower / 1 Lore) carries Bodyguard, meaning an opponent who wants to challenge one of your characters must target Sulley first if he's in play. His ability, REHIRE, reads: "When you play this character, you may return a character card from your discard to your hand." That's a defensive anchor with built-in recursion, not a Lore-race finisher.
Sulley also has a Ruby print (Sulley - Protective Monster, AOV-128, 3-cost Uncommon, 2/5/1, with an inkwell-exert Rush trigger) and a Sapphire print (Sulley - Strategic Scarer, AOV-152, 3-cost Common, 4/3/1, that gets +2 Strength off a full inkwell). None of the three are the pure Willpower-wall the pre-launch guess assumed -- each ties its payoff to a specific board or inkwell condition instead.
The Amber version is the one that matters for Amber/Emerald Aggro: a 5-cost Bodyguard body protects your cheaper Amber and Emerald threats while refilling your hand from the discard pile.
Peter Pan - Shadow Catcher brings unique abilities to the Lorcana card pool.
Boo's Amber print, Boo - In Disguise (AOV-019, 2-cost Uncommon, 1 Strength / 2 Willpower / 2 Lore), turned out to have exactly the kind of franchise synergy an earlier version of this guide guessed at, just in the correct ink: "YOU'RE SAFE NOW: While you have an exerted character named Sulley in play, this character can't be challenged." That's a direct mechanical callback to the film -- Boo is safe as long as Sulley is nearby -- and it rewards running her alongside the Amber Sulley print specifically, since exerting Sulley (attacking or questing with him) turns Boo untouchable.
She also has a Ruby print (Boo - Energetic Child, AOV-127, 3-cost Rare, Rush plus a challenge-banish trigger against low-Strength characters) and a Sapphire print (Boo - Human Child, AOV-160, 1-cost Rare, gets +2 Lore off a full inkwell). The Amber/Ruby team-up card Sulley & Boo - Scare Buddies (AOV-029, 6-cost Super Rare) is a separate, standalone card that Shifts onto an existing Sulley or Boo and returns banished characters from the discard for free when it dies.
Her collector appeal doesn't depend on any of this. Players who were kids in 2001 are in their late 20s and early 30s now, and Boo is the character they'd most want on a shelf. The Amber - In Disguise print and the Sulley & Boo team-up are the two versions collectors are watching most, since neither has an Enchanted counterpart this set -- Super Rare is the top rarity the franchise reaches.
Randall Boggs is Sulley's rival and the film's main villain, and the one guess this guide's earlier version got right was Evasive -- he just doesn't print in Amber at all. Randall Boggs - Envious Coworker (AOV-123, Ruby, 2-cost Rare, 3 Strength / 1 Willpower / 0 Lore) has Evasive plus "AFTER-HOURS PROJECT: While all cards in your inkwell are exerted, this character gets +2 {l}."
His second print, Randall Boggs - Scary Smart (AOV-153, Sapphire, 4-cost Rare, 3/3/2), skips Evasive entirely for a different kind of disruption: "GET OUTTA HERE!: When you play this character, put chosen character of yours into your inkwell facedown and exerted," paired with a lore payoff for keeping the whole inkwell exerted at end of turn.
Because he has no Amber print, Randall doesn't fit the Amber/Emerald Aggro shell this article otherwise discusses -- he's a Ruby or Sapphire deck-builder's pull, not a piece for that specific archetype. Collectors who favor villain cards still tend to be a dedicated group, and the Ruby Evasive body is the more tournament-relevant of the two.
Amber/Emerald Aggro (tracked elsewhere as Amber/Emerald Elinor, after the archetype's Emerald headliner Elinor - Renowned Diplomat) sat at 15% Core meta share as of the Aug 7 tournament snapshot -- a co-leading archetype alongside Amber/Amethyst Midrange. The deck's Emerald half comes mostly from cards outside this franchise; the Monsters Inc contribution is entirely on the Amber side of the list.
Mike Wazowski - Well-Rounded Entertainer fills the 1-drop slot with a body that can pay into a Lore boost. Sulley - The New Boss gives the deck a 5-cost Bodyguard finisher that protects the board and refills the hand from the discard pile. Boo - In Disguise is the conditional piece: she's only untouchable once Sulley is exerted, so she rewards decks that are already running the Amber Sulley print rather than standing alone.
Randall Boggs doesn't fit this archetype at all -- he has no Amber print, so he's a pull for Ruby or Sapphire decks, not this one. That's the correction that matters most here: an earlier version of this guide grouped all four Monsters Inc characters into one Emerald package, when in reality only three of the seven Monsters Inc cards even touch Amber, and Randall touches neither Amber nor Emerald.
GODEEPER: Full breakdown of which Set 13 cards are worth pulling and buying for competitive and collector value. Disney Lorcana Attack of the Vine Best Cards to Pull
Use this sequence to evaluate and slot the Amber-side Monsters Inc pieces into an existing Amber shell.
1. Confirm your deck runs Amber and Emerald. The Amber Monsters Inc cards only make sense in an Amber-based shell. Amber/Emerald Aggro (also tracked as Amber/Emerald Elinor) is the archetype they're built for, and it sat at 15% Core meta share as of the Aug 7 tournament snapshot.
2. Slot Mike Wazowski - Well-Rounded Entertainer at the 1-drop. His 2 Strength body and Lore-boost payment fit an aggressive curve better than his Heroic Climber print, which is the grindier, card-selection option for slower Amber shells instead.
3. Add Sulley - The New Boss as your 5-cost finisher. His Bodyguard keyword protects your cheaper Amber and Emerald threats, and his REHIRE ability returns a character from your discard pile to hand when he enters play.
4. Pair Boo - In Disguise with the Amber Sulley print, not on her own. She can't be challenged only while an exerted character named Sulley is in play, so she's a conditional include that rewards decks already running that Sulley, not a standalone pick.
5. Skip Randall Boggs for this specific archetype. He has no Amber print at all. His Ruby and Sapphire versions belong to a different deck, not the Amber/Emerald shell this package targets.
6. Time your singles purchases for week 3 post-launch. Opening volume in the first two weeks after a set launches typically drives prices down, and since none of these nine cards carry an Enchanted-tier premium, there's no reason to buy before that dip settles.
Every Lorcana set has a handful of Enchanted or Iconic slots that pull the most collector demand. Monsters Inc doesn't get one in Set 13 -- the franchise's top rarity across all nine cards is Super Rare, split between Sulley - The New Boss (Amber, solo) and Sulley & Boo - Scare Buddies (Amber/Ruby team-up, 6-cost). Anyone chasing an "Enchanted Boo" or "Enchanted Sulley" based on pre-launch speculation should recalibrate: that slot doesn't exist this set.
The Sulley & Boo team-up is the more collector-relevant of the two Super Rares. It requires both Amber and Ruby ink to Shift onto an existing Sulley or Boo, which narrows who can actually play it, and its art depicts the pair together rather than as solo character portraits -- a natural draw for players who grew up with the film.
Mike's two prints and Boo's Ruby and Sapphire versions sit at Common, Uncommon, and Rare respectively, well below chase-card territory. Randall's two Rares are the pick for villain-card collectors specifically, a category that has held aftermarket value across previous sets even without a rarity spike.
On timing: Week 3 after launch is the historical sweet spot for Set 13 singles. Opening volume in Weeks 1-2 drives most prices down, and with no Enchanted slot inflating this franchise's ceiling, none of these nine cards carry the kind of launch-week premium that would justify buying early.

Which Monsters Inc characters are in Disney Lorcana Attack of the Vine? Mike Wazowski, James P. Sullivan (Sulley), Boo, Randall Boggs, Celia Mae, Roz, and Henry J. Waternoose III are all confirmed in Set 13, across nine total cards. This is the first Lorcana set to feature the Monsters Inc franchise.
What ink color are Monsters Inc characters in Set 13? Not Emerald. The confirmed printings split across Amber (Mike Wazowski x2, Boo, Sulley's main Super Rare, Celia Mae), Ruby (a second Sulley, a second Randall), and Sapphire (a third Sulley, a third Randall, Roz, and Waternoose). Up, not Monsters Inc, is the franchise that lands in Emerald this set.
Are Monsters Inc cards worth buying for competitive play? The Amber printings matter most for mainstream Amber decks. Sulley - The New Boss (5-cost Super Rare) gives Amber/Emerald Aggro a Bodyguard finisher with discard recursion, and Mike Wazowski - Well-Rounded Entertainer (1-cost Common) is a cheap, repeatable Lore boost. Randall Boggs has no Amber print, so he doesn't fit that shell at all.
Is Boo a competitive card in Set 13? Yes, conditionally. Boo - In Disguise (2-cost Amber, Uncommon) can't be challenged while an exerted character named Sulley is in play, a real synergy piece that rewards pairing her with the Amber Sulley print rather than running her alone.
When did Monsters Inc first appear in Disney Lorcana? Attack of the Vine (Set 13, launched July 24, 2026) is the first Lorcana set to include Monsters Inc characters. Prior sets covered Disney Princess, Pixar's first Lorcana appearance in Set 12 (Wilds Unknown), and then Set 13 expanded the Pixar roster further with Monsters Inc.
What is Boo's real name in Monsters Inc? Boo's real name is Mary. In the 2001 Pixar film, this detail is only briefly confirmed when Mike reads her name from her door tag. In Lorcana, her card uses the nickname "Boo" as she is universally known by that name in the Disney fandom.
