Disney Lorcana Starter Decks 2026: Best Picks to Begin

How we checked this: we priced every current beginner product on TCGplayer on October 19, 2026, checked contents against Ravensburger's product pages, and read the r/Lorcana threads where new players asked what to buy.

Updated October 19, 2026: Hyperia City's prerelease has happened, so we added its 2-Player Starter Set (a presale until October 23) and repriced every beginner box.

Disney Lorcana starter decks: what's on the shelf

There are three kinds of beginner product, and they solve different problems:

Only the two 2-Player Starter Sets give you a deck you can play tonight, and on October 19 only the Wilds Unknown one was shipping. The Troves and Collection Starter Sets are packs plus accessories: fun to open, but you'd still need to build a 60-card deck from random cards.

Older sets had single starter decks. Ravensburger's Rise of the Floodborn page lists what one holds: a 60-card deck with 2 foil cards, 11 game tokens, a rulebook and one 12-card booster. Ravensburger said in December that it was changing its product lineup to bring in friends and family, starting with the two-player box. TCGplayer lists no single starter decks for Wilds Unknown, Attack of the Vine! or Hyperia City.

What's in the 2-Player Starter Set

Ravensburger's product page lists 2 ready-to-play decks (60 cards each, with 2 special cards in each deck), 2 deck storage boxes, 13 tokens, 2 lore trackers and 1 rulebook. TCGplayer's listing says the special cards are foils. It released on May 8, 2026.

The two decks play differently. Ravensburger's December announcement put it this way: the Amber-Emerald deck "is for those who love cards that 'play nice' together, allowing for more card draw," and the Amethyst-Ruby deck is for players who want "something more daring and heroic." The box art shows who leads them: Buzz Lightyear for the toys, Mrs. Incredible for the supers.

Why is it so cheap? An r/Lorcana regular explained it in May: "The new 2 player started deck is dirt cheap because there isn't a single booster in there." You're paying for two finished decks and nothing random.

Disney Lorcana starter decks vs the Illumineer's Trove

The Trove is the product new players buy by mistake. It's 8 booster packs, a storage box, 6 damage dice and a lore counter, with no deck. TCGplayer's buyer's guides list the Wilds Unknown and Hyperia City Troves at a $49.99 MSRP; on October 19 the Wilds Unknown one sold for nearly double that. The Attack of the Vine! Trove was cheaper, and the Hyperia City Trove, which TCGplayer dates to the October 16 prerelease, had already dropped from $106.79 on October 13.

At those prices you're paying $9.87 to $12.41 a pack for random cards. We'd skip it until you know which inks you like, then buy singles.

Which deck should you pick?

You get both, so the real question is which one you hand your friend. We'd give the Amber-Emerald toys deck to whoever likes drawing cards and building a board, and the Amethyst-Ruby supers deck to whoever wants to attack. If one of you outgrows the box fast, another r/Lorcana player had a suggestion: "If you want a little meatier pair of decks, get the Ursula or Jafar quest because those decks have a legendary card and better cohesion." What about the Hyperia City 2-Player Starter Set?

It's real now, and it's the second box of this kind after Wilds Unknown's, at the same $29.99 MSRP, according to TCGplayer's Hyperia City buyer's guide. TCGplayer's listing describes the same layout: two 60-card decks with 2 foils each, 13 damage tokens, 2 lore trackers and a rulebook. Ravensburger's Hyperia City page dates the set's prerelease to October 16 and its release everywhere to October 23, but still doesn't show the starter set itself, and nobody official has said which inks the two decks use.

On October 19 TCGplayer still listed it as a presale shipping October 23, selling for just under forty dollars across 28 listings, down from $67.47 on October 13 but still about ten dollars over MSRP. The buyer's guide expects it to be "readily available shortly after release." We'd wait for that: pick it over the Wilds Unknown box only if it reaches MSRP and you want the newer cards, and if you want to play this week, the Wilds Unknown box is still the one to buy.

Our take

Buy the Wilds Unknown 2-Player Starter Set at about twenty dollars. Play it with a friend until you know which deck you like, then upgrade that one with singles. Give the Hyperia City box a look once it ships and drops toward MSRP. Leave the Troves and Collection Starter Sets for later; they're collector products at today's prices.
