Union Arena Madoka Magica Set Announced: UE29BT 2027

New to English, not new to the game. Japan has been playing these magical girls since 2024.

Our callUE29BT lands April 30, 2027. Don't spend anything yet: read the Japanese card list and pick your girl.

Union Arena Madoka Magica is coming to English as UE29BT, and it's further along than the announcement made it look. Bandai's English product page has the release date, price and pack layout, and it now carries real key art. More useful still: Japan has had a Madoka booster since November 2024 and a second one, Magia Exedra, since September 2026. Bandai hasn't said which of those cards the English set will carry, but the Japanese list is the best preview English players have.

Updated October 19, 2026: re-checked every detail on Bandai's English and Japanese pages. We removed the claim that no cards or art had been shown (the Japanese sets are fully public, and the English page now has key art), corrected "first magical-girl license in the game" to "first on the English list," and added where the set sits in the 2027 schedule.

Where it sits in 2027

The English calendar around it is busy. Umamusume: Pretty Derby gets a starter deck and booster in February, D.Gray-man follows on March 19, Madoka on April 30, then Mushoku Tensei on May 21, with Arknights in June. Umamusume and Arknights each get a starter deck; Madoka, for now, doesn't. Our full Union Arena EN release schedule keeps the whole list in order.

On the English list it's also the first magical-girl series.

What Japan already shows

The Japanese Madoka booster came out on November 29, 2024, with 12 Super Rare, 18 Rare, 35 Uncommon and 35 Common card types plus six Action Point cards, and a 50-card starter deck the same day. Japanese packs hold 8 cards, so English pack counts won't match one to one. Magia Exedra followed in Japan on September 25, 2026.

Three of the Japanese Super Rares show where the set's identity sits: Ultimate Madoka (UA31BT/MMM-1-002), Devil Homura (MMM-1-036) and Mami Tomoe (MMM-1-019). All three are Raid cards that come in on top of the base version of the same girl, so expect the English set to be built around Madoka, Homura and Mami lines rather than a mixed pile of magical girls.

The open question English players are asking is whether Magia Exedra comes over on its own or folded in. On r/Union_Arena_TCG, u/AuBirdMan put it simply: "Would be really weird to do Madoka vol 1 and excedra separately but I guess we will see." Bandai's English page doesn't say either way.

Our take

Bookmark it and keep your money. There's no English card list, no starter deck and no box art beyond the key visual, and the release is more than six months out. If you're curious, read the Japanese card list now and pick your side, Team Madoka or Team Homura; that's the one call you can make early. We'd hold off on Japanese singles unless you'd collect them anyway, because English packs are a different size and Bandai hasn't said which printings come over. If you're new to the game, our Union Arena deck-building guide is the better place to start before April.

How we checked this: on October 19, 2026 we re-read Bandai's English UE29BT page, product list and card list, and the Japanese Madoka product pages and card list.
