The OP05-098 Leader, Read Closely

Enel OP05-098 is a Yellow Leader with 4 Life and 5000 power, typed Sky Island. Its effect is [Opponent's Turn] [Once Per Turn]: when your number of Life cards becomes 0, add 1 card from the top of your deck to the top of your Life cards. Then, trash 1 card from your hand.

Two details matter. The refill only works on your opponent's turn, so a Life card you spend yourself, with Zeus for example, does not set it off. And each refill costs a card from hand, so the deck needs card draw to keep paying.

Why Charlotte Linlin Holds the List Together

OP17-112OP17-112Shop on TCGplayer Charlotte Linlin is a 10-cost Character with 12000 power. Its [Your Turn] effect reads: "The base power of all of your Characters with a [Trigger] and 4000 base power becomes 8000." Its On Play draws 1 card, then either adds the top card of your deck to your Life or adds the top card of your opponent's Life to their hand.

Read against the list, that line covers most of the deck. Daifuku, Mont-d'or, Oven, Pudding and Sweet 3 Generals are all 4000-power Big Mom Pirates with a Trigger, 18 cards in Wappon's list and 20 in Peperon's. With Linlin on the field, each of them attacks for 8000 on your turn.

The Triggers also matter on their own. Daifuku, Mont-d'or, Oven and Sweet 3 Generals all have "[Trigger] Play this card", so a Life card your opponent takes can put a body on your board. That is the Big Mom package's answer to a leader that wants to lose Life.

Charlotte Pudding OP17-109 (x4). On Play, you may trash 1 card with a Trigger from your hand to draw 3. It is the main draw engine for paying the leader's discard.

Charlotte Oven OP17-102 (x4). On K.O., it plays a Character with 4000 power or less, other than Oven, from your trash.

Charlotte Mont-d'or OP17-111. On Play, you may reveal 2 Trigger cards from your hand to K.O. up to 2 opposing Characters with a cost of 1 or less.

Sweet 3 Generals OP17-114 (x4). On your turn, you may rest 2 DON!! to draw 1, add the top card of your deck to your Life, and give up to 2 opposing Characters -3000 power this turn.

Marshall.D.Teach OP16-119 (x4). An 8-cost 10000 that looks at the top 3 cards on play and adds up to 1 to your Life. Its Trigger negates an opposing Character's effect this turn, then K.O.s a Character with a cost of 5 or less.

Borsalino EB04-058 (x4). A 5-cost Blocker that adds the top card of your deck to your Life when you have 2 or less Life cards.

Enel EB02-052 (x2). A 10-cost 11000 that gains Rush with a Sky Island leader. When it attacks, you may trash a card: if you have 1 or less Life cards, add the top card of your deck to your Life, and it gains +1000 power.

You're the One Who Should Disappear. OP06-115. A [Counter] Event: trash a card for +3000 in battle. Its Trigger adds the top card of your deck to your Life if you have 0 Life cards, then trashes a card from your hand.

Two Lists Compared: 42 Shared Cards

OPMetagame tracks both winning lists from September 30: Wappon's 1st at an SB event and Peperon's 1st at a StorePrelims+SB event. Taking the lower copy count for each card, they share 42 of 50 cards. 34 cards match exactly: 4 each of Borsalino, Daifuku, Linlin, Oven, Pudding, Teach, Sweet 3 Generals and Zeus, plus 2 Enel EB02-052.

Peperon goes all in on the Big Mom Pirates. OP17-113OP17-113Shop on TCGplayer Streusen is a 1-cost with a 2000 Counter that looks at 3 cards for a Big Mom Pirates card, which lifts the list to 12 Characters with a 2000 Counter.

Wappon keeps a small Thriller Bark core instead. Gecko Moria's On Play plays a Thriller Bark Pirates Character with a cost of 4 or less from your trash, or adds it to the top of your Life face-up, and Dr. Hogback and Perona are the targets. In Peperon's list Moria has no other Thriller Bark Pirates to pick, so it plays as a 10000-power body whose Trigger plays any Character with a cost of 4 or less from your trash.

Wappon also runs 2 The Ark Maxim. The Stage reads: rest this card and 1 of your [Enel] cards to K.O. all opposing Characters with a cost of 2 or less. Your leader is an [Enel] card, so it can pay that cost.

Step-by-Step: Piloting Yellow Enel

1. Draw with Pudding early. Trash a Trigger card you do not need to draw 3, so you have cards to pay for the leader's discard later.

2. Build the board with Trigger bodies. Daifuku, Mont-d'or and Oven are 4000-power bodies now and 8000-power attackers once Linlin lands.

3. Refill Life on your own turn. Sweet 3 Generals refills for 2 rested DON!!. Borsalino refills at 2 Life or less. Teach looks at 3 cards and picks the one to put on your Life.

4. Let the leader catch you at 0. On your opponent's turn, the leader adds a Life card back the first time you hit 0. Keep a card in hand to trash.

5. Land Linlin on a full board. On your turn every 4000-power Trigger Character becomes 8000, and Linlin's On Play draws a card and either adds Life or sends one of your opponent's Life cards to their hand.

6. Close with Enel EB02-052. With your Sky Island leader it has Rush, so it attacks the turn it lands, and at 1 Life or less it refills a card on the attack.

Tips for the Yellow Enel Deck

Stack the 0-Life heals. In a September 15 thread asking for advice on a Yellow Enel Big Mom build, one player explained the Event's Trigger: "The yellow zero cost has a trigger that heals you that stacks with enels ability. So if you can get it to be your last life you heal two for taking one." (u/Sufficient_Rain8004 on r/OnePieceTCG)

Keep Enel EB02-052. Another reply in the same thread: "Never hurts to still run the 10c Enel from eb02. He’s sky island so he can heal each turn when he’s at 1 or less life." (u/Fun-Distance-5657 on r/OnePieceTCG) Both September 30 winners run 2.

Streusen is a real option. A third player in the thread wrote: "i personally run streusen over flampe". (u/reml14 on r/OnePieceTCG) Peperon's winning list runs 4.

Zeus costs you a Life card. Its On Play adds a card from the top or bottom of your Life to your hand to K.O. a Character with a cost of 5 or less. It is removal, not a leader trigger, because the leader only works on your opponent's turn.

The September 16 deck profile below, by the YouTube channel OPTCG phi, plays a different build: 3 Teach, 2 Kingdom Come (EB01-059) and 2 The Ark Maxim, with games against Green Mihawk and Red Ace.

Yellow Enel in the OP-17 Meta

On October 9, OPMetagame's tier list placed Yellow Enel in A tier with 15 OP-17 decklists. Its leader page tracks 291 decklists across formats, and its best tracked finish is 1st place at Regional Mexico City, piloted by Alexis Arellano.

All of those OP-17 results came before October 12, when Bandai's new ban list took effect, including Dracule Mihawk OP14-020. Neither September 30 list plays a card on Bandai's banned list. Borsalino EB04-058 is half of a banned pair with I Re-Quasar Helllp!! OP07-115, which means you cannot run both, and neither list plays OP07-115. Our take

Yellow Enel is an old leader that OP-17 gave a new middle. 34 of 50 cards match exactly, and almost all the new cards are 4000-power Trigger Big Mom Pirates that Linlin turns into 8000-power attackers.

The open question is the flex slots. Peperon commits fully to Big Mom with Streusen; Wappon keeps Hogback, Perona, Zoro and The Ark Maxim. We would start from Peperon's list for its 12 Characters with a 2000 Counter against Wappon's 8, and check OPMetagame again once results from after October 12 come in.
